The Message of

God Grown Kreative

Welcome to God Grown Kreative, where art meets faith and creativity is only bound by what God can do!

I create art through the act of worship and diving into what inspires my content and then expressing it in the medium that speaks to it the best. All works are rooted in the word of God, inspired by the love of Jesus Christ, and my life's testimony. At God Grown Kreative, unique art pieces come to life between God and the Kreative (that’s me!) that will resonate with your soul and speak to your spirit. God Grown Kreative believes in the power of concepts which can produce masterpieces that can change hearts, plant the seeds of the gospel, and introduce the love and compassion of Christ. I love that art can express those words that can't find voices, that it can start conversations, and that it can be a journey to self-discovery. I procure so much more from an art piece by being introduced to a concept rather than just viewing the image. Honestly, a concept can turn an ‘I don’t really care’ image into a masterpiece. Purpose within a piece creates understanding that surpasses the surface level ideas and provides insight into the work in a whole new manner; that is concept to me.

Ecclesiastes 3 is the depiction of God Grown Kreative’s perspective that influences the artwork. “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven,” Ecclesiastes 3 the Holy Bible. This verse expresses the purpose that God will bring out of every bad thing, or season that the devil pushes for, and the good and inspiration that comes out of good things, or seasons of joy. Although the artwork is rarely depicting the stories within the Bible the concept behind each piece is rooted in my faith.

In 2021-2022 a valley or hard time occurred with low spirits, depression, anxiety, and isolation during COVID reigned, but also where I was redeemed by God. In this season this houseplant, growth, and God concept started developing in me. I started the collection and care of houseplants, it was also a rediscovery of who I am in Christ and what my place is in the new city of Cleveland, Ohio. I found roots in a church and a new love of houseplants. It was a valley that I had to persevere through to see the blessings that followed. It led me to a mountain or amazing season of life where I had a church home, a place of growth and healing, and where I found the love of my life on this side of heaven, and married him. There was growth in my business and joy overflowing with flourishing friendships and a deep relationship with the Lord. In these seasons I embraced the idea of houseplants representing the Lord’s work in all our troubled places. A growth of positivity throughout the isolated environments. The imagery that flowed into artwork is environments of destruction, like apocalyptic scenes that have houseplants taking over. The scene explains the feelings of anxiety, depression, and hopelessness. The plants depict God’s work to move the hard season of depression into one of blessing and the new life and spiritual growth in me. It has houseplants being overgrown and closing off our view of human creations or inventions such as an abandoned vehicle meaning Christ reached out for me and brought light and joy back into my perspective of life. The artwork expresses the growth I had personally and in my business. The plants show the power of Christ's love and the overwhelming awe-encompassing feeling of knowing God is for us and always fighting with/for us bringing life into the darkest places.

In 2025-2026, I am in a different season, another valley, with difficulties that are burning me out and evoking feelings too overwhelming to handle. A place where chronic illness and uncertainty in health rules my life and destroys my mental health. I journeyed into a place where I required medication to help me live daily life, from pain to depression meds, I felt broken. God Grown Kreative halted and so seemed my everyday life; progress was lost, or so I thought. With artwork depicting everyday objects like an oven in a kitchen and shower in the  bathroom, I realized that progression in life isn’t just in the dramatic seasons, but in everyday life. A world and life affected by chronic illness and discouragement can also be a life with joy and peace. The oven can also have beauty grow out of it like the plants growing around and inside it. Christ can and will fill in everything else by trust and faith. This body of work depicts the difficult feelings in life that then get filled and oversaturated over time by houseplants which represent how my growth and progress happens with God at my center. No matter the brokenness we may feel, like the broken oven filled with overgrowing houseplants, God fills in the spaces and stitches together our pieces. Or even better, God develops new pieces to fit how we are now shaped, like the “Space” series. God is developing, pruning, and shaping our character to be more like Jesus. So there is a new beauty in that the oven is now a planter blossoming in new growth. I initially chose an oven because God used baking to teach me the lessons of everyday joy and slow progress with new perspectives and faith in Him. I received a sourdough starter from a friend and fell into a homemaking spot of joy taking care of my house, my body, and my husband. This focus helped me change perspective and see the bloom of the oven as a planter now…a changed purpose. This is still the season I am in and that is okay. I take steps forward and backward within the many valleys and hills that exist in this time of life.

I have spent years developing this body of work, it has followed a natural progression of a concept. The houseplants now depict the growth and progress of life with God against the world that tears down where we will be continually shaped into our Jesus-like character despite the difficulties that come from life, the devil’s distractions, or satan’s encouragement of our sins. This body of work has become a testimony of my life and is ongoing. All the ups and downs let God lead and speak through me and listen to all perspectives in life to find true growth. I am being taught that the abstract overgrown houseplant concept of God Grown Kreative can make people, artists, and artwork look entirely different where new doors of knowledge and understanding open. Mixing worship and concept is so fruitful in pushing art so far that new ideas after new ideas are exposed. The power of an eternal perspective of God and the heavenly places swallows up and covers the sin and destruction in all seasons. I am excited where God will bring God Grown Kreative in the future.

I hope you enjoy the plants and growth journey of my art as much as I do! 🙂
